We visited the Absent Ear for a work colleagues leaving do. We kept it a surprise. The entrance was so exciting for her, giving a password into "The Ear". Then entering the bar was enticing, it's dark, mysterious and intriguing. The bar staff were fantastic, talking us through the menu of cocktails. The menus are interactive on a tablet, you scroll through the paintings in a virtual gallery and each one was VERY unique. The choices and flavours were hugely varied, there is definitely a drink for everyone on this menu.. We were looked after well by the staff and had the best time. I'll definitely go back! Highly recommend The Absent Ear!
Hands down the best cocktail bar in Glasgow. The Absent Ear isn’t just somewhere that serves drinks, it feels like an experience from the second you walk in. The whole hidden speakeasy vibe, the atmosphere, the creativity and attention to detail make it feel completely different from your standard cocktail place. Every cocktail felt properly thought out rather than being another sugary mix thrown into an Instagram glass. The menu is creative, unexpected and somehow still manages to deliver on flavour instead of relying on gimmicks. You can tell the staff genuinely know their craft and are passionate about what they do, which makes the whole experience even better. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between intimate, fun and slightly mysterious without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place you go for “just one drink” and somehow end up staying all night while convincing yourself this is culture because there’s art involved. If you’re looking for a cocktail bar in Glasgow that actually feels special and memorable rather than identical to every other dark room with neon signs, this is the one. Already planning my next visit. 10/10. 🍸✨
Fabulous experience at The Absent Ear. We could not have asked for better service from the staff -didn’t get the girl or guy with the moustache’s names but they and Elijah were helpful, friendly and an absolute credit to the establishment. The place itself has a great atmosphere and a lovely intimate setting. Thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails which are really thoughtfully designed and I enjoyed the fun concept of the artworks that accompanied the drink description. We had an all round brilliant time (suffering today though!) Thanks to all the staff that served us- you are all amazing ❤️
Very cool place and fun experience . Liked the use of digital technology to take you through the cocktail selection process. Server was very knowledgeable with regards to what spirit would be best with certain mixers. Cocktails were delicious
We didn’t have reservations but still managed to get in on a Sunday night. Initially, we thought it was closed and tried knocking on the door. Then a man answered through a small hole! (Turns out you need to buzz Van Gogh’s ear to get in!) What a fascinating place! The menu design was also great and I’ll definitely be back to try more cocktails.
