We had the most amazing time at the restaurant, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. The starters were delicious. The steaks were absolutely amazing. The cocktails were basic. Also found out the restaurant was dog friendly, it was nice seeing some furry friends during lunch.

Cannot say enough about this place. We landed in scotland and popped in for a quick lunch, amazing. The next evening we came with friends and had the BEST steak and more. Rose was the best server ❤️ we will be coming back again before we leave back to Alaska. If you haven't tried this restaurant, you're missing out.

Unfortunately, I found a large clump of dirt and sand in the salad served with the steak, which was very disappointing at this price point. The staff apologised and offered a partial discount. It felt a little calculated, but I didn’t want to spend my lunch arguing over the bill and ruin the experience, so I accepted it. The service was friendly throughout, and the staff even helped cut the steak. The beef dripping chips were genuinely outstanding – easily the best thing we ordered. The rib-eye was decent, though I actually preferred the sirloin. The scallops were large and fresh, but the seasoning was a little too subtle for my taste. Overall, I left with mixed feelings. While there were some highlights, finding dirt in the salad overshadowed the entire meal and unfortunately isn’t something I’d be willing to overlook or return for.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this place truly deserves one. The service was outstanding, and every member of staff was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant. Unfortunately, I didn’t get their names, but they all contributed to a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and I loved the unique touch of being able to choose my own steak knife. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Glasgow. Highly recommended!

Had dinner at Porter and Rye late February 2026 and the place was full on a Wednesday night… tells a story ! It was a business dinner with colleagues and having lived in Finneston about thirty years ago I was a bit apprehensive ! Wow was I wrong, apparently these guys are partially responsible for the gentrification of the area ! How many restaurants can make that claim ! The food… was literally the best meal I’ve had in as long as I can remember ! I tend not to have starters but the super friendly / helpful staff directed us towards some sharing starters… these were literally to die for … you must try the [small] tacos … to die for … each one is a delicate two mouthfuls … I couldn’t eat the second mouthful for five minutes because then it would be gone 😞…the flavour was out of this world. Then followed by a fillet which was aged… they told me how long but I can’t remember … super super tasty. My colleague had a blue cooked fillet he’s a steak gourmet apparently and he made comment that it was it was THE best he’s ever had. In fact he became a bit of a bore about it and kept going on about how magnificent it was. The restaurant made some brilliant wine recommendations and we had an amazing night. The staff… well if you like staff that are trained to be robotic and 10 seconds after serving come round and ask “is everything ok” and then disappear before you can answer then Porter & Rye isn’t for you… they are well trained but are clearly allowed to let their own personality be on display and I loved it ! What could be “even better if” we’ll only thing that I can honestly say is from a selfish perspective… I now live in Edinburgh… so how about move to Edinburgh ! TBH my go to steak places in Edinburgh now seem a bit second class compared to P & R, even my favourite Morton’s in Hong Kong has now been toppled into second place. Awesome 🤩 Note to the owner, knocked it out of the park is too often overused… but honestly … “you knocked it out of the park and we’ll be back” ! Thank you for an awesome evening…
