Incredible place. Booked onto the Cowboy Ceilidh for a stag do and we were not disappointed. Great entertainment throughout the evening with drinks vouchers and bull rides included. Line dancing was so fun and Maggie was great! Worth every penny.
I tried the BBQ platter and it was a beautiful feast! Such a good value for money. Great vibes, cool spot and the cocktails are lovely too
It feels like the people running this restaurant haven't even set foot in America, or even a nice smokehouse in Britain. The food was barely edible, mediocre pub food. I ordered the brisket, which was a slab of overcooked, apparently boiled, stringy, tough meat slathered in a thick layer of BBQ sauce to mask the complete lack of smoky flavour. No bark or smoke ring to even mention. No hint of the delicious melting connective tissue or fat you get after a nice 16 hour smoke. Completely tasteless and incredibly chewy. The cornbread bites had none of the expected delicious softness and cakey deliciousness of corn bread. An absolute unmitigated disappointment. Take a trip to the closest Hickory's if you want a decent approximation of real BBQ on this side of the Atlantic, or just buy yourself a smoker and do it yourself!
This was our first visit to Maggies, after it being recommended by a friend. The visit coincided with going to C2C. Both evening and daytime at Maggies was brilliant. Excellent music and food. We had the Sunday Carvery for 2, such a great idea to have so you can try everything and made better with live music. Food was amazing! Service was great and everyone friendly and helpful.
We came to Maggie's after purchasing an Itison deal for the Sunday Roast Smokehouse Platter. For £48 it was definitely worth it. Included in the price was a pint of Heineken or a glass of house wine. The platter was HUGE and definitely plenty of choice. The half cooked chicken was so moist and the brisket was amazing! Massive Yorkshire puddings with beans and gravy. The cowboy butter is a must to spread onto the corn slices, you will not be dissapointed. The only downside was the mac n cheese was dry, as was the pulled pork doughnuts. You get a little metal tray to use as well but it's quite small so be prepared to make a bit of a mess. Service was great, everyone was really friendly and welcoming. Would definitely go back.
