Ardnamurchan Scottish Restaurant & Bar

This is my second time visiting this restaurant, and I must say you shouldn't miss this experience if you come to Glasgow. The ambience is lively, with traditional Scottish music playing in the background and a modern decor providing a nice contrast. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We started our dinner with some sparkling Johnnie Walker Black Ruby drinks, which set a great tone for the rest of the evening. Our starters were a mix of traditional and modern takes. We tried a classic Cullen skink, which had less emphasis on the smokiness of the fish and focused more on the leek flavour, alongside a delicious portion of pan-seared scallops. The scallops were cooked to perfection and accompanied by crispy pork belly, sliced green apple, a delicious apple cider cream, and apple chutney. For mains, we went with the classic haggis, neeps, and tatties with a rich whisky cream, which was a deliciousa and comforting dish. We also ordered the wild venison pavé with redcurrant jus; unfortunately, it was a bit tough, but the flavours were nonetheless delicious. It came with a braised chicory with mustard gel, a fondant potato, and a carrot and apricot purée that offered a lovely sweet contrast to the chicory. As a side, we had the fine green beans with sweet mustard dressing and homemade pickles. To finish our dinner, we shared the Scottish cheese board, which came with cheddar, Blue Murder, brie, and peppery crowdie, served with oatcakes, sliced green apple, and the most delicious spiced apple chutney. We also had the lightest and fluffiest sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. The perfect way to end an amazing dinner.
2nd visit to Ardnamurchan, and they don't disappoint. Food is delicious, fresh ingredients, portions are good size. Good selection of fish and seafood, meat dishes, as well as options available for vegetarians and vegans. Their cullen skink is delicious! (Scottish traditional soup with fish) There wasn't anything that we didn't like, and we had a big selection, desserts were also great. Good selection of drinks. 3 course market menu is around £28 which is good value for the food you get.
My partner had booked a table for our anniversary, on arrival the girl at the desk was amazing, seated straight away, she brought us a glass of bubbly on the restaurant which was just lovely. The service from start to finish was spot on, and as for the food, I had the haggis starter and seafood stew and my partner had the rabbit and chicken terrine then the steak, every bite was just devine, we will 100% be back, thank you for making our night that little bit special x
Every time i've been here, it's for a celebratory meal, it's that kinda place - always a great experience. Also if I was to take guests who's never been to Scotland before, this would be the place. We had the following, Cullen Skink, Speyside Beef Stovies, Speyside Slow Braised Beef Short Rib, Haggis Neeps and Tatties, Side of Hispi Cabbage, and Cranachan for dessert. As it's right next to the Theatre royal, you can take advantage of their Pre-Theatre Menu (Mon-Sat, 12-5.45pm) for 2 Courses £24.95 / 3 Courses £27.95. See our full video review on our experience under The Olive Tree Family on all social media platforms.
A friendly welcome from the team to us and our large dog. They seated us at a table that gave us plenty space which was ideal. Sunday lunch choices were good, the Cullen skink in particular was delicious. Would also recommend the fish and chips and venison casserole. Glad we ordered the dessert to share as the portion size was very generous, would have been too much for one after two courses. Staff brought a bowl of water and biscuits for the dog unprompted, and are clearly very used to fussing over dogs.
