Crabshakk Finnieston
Glasgow

The first of two locations, this “Wee Shakk” much smaller than that at Botanics with just two cooks and two servers for ~20 seats, Crabshakk has been serving Glasgow since 2009. Situated at 1114 Argyle Street and open from 12h00 Wednesday through Monday, reservations strongly recommended at all times for any size party, guests will find upstairs seating, bar stools and a few uncovered outside tables all tightly packed. A concise concept sourcing only Fish and Shellfish from Scotland, five classics and some snacks surrounded by daily specials, Food is simple yet nicely prepared while prices trend high per portion. Baking Focaccia on-site, springy with good Olive Oil, a first visit featured Crabshakk’s skillet Scallops in fragrant Butter before a tiny £30 Crab with mixed Meat in a cheesy Stew and Rice Pudding with Coconuts and Pineapples that seem inconsistent with the concept.
Crabshakk was my first impression of Glasgow, and the bar was set extremely high. The city itself is outstanding and this restaurant is no different. Incredibly friendly and fun staff. I’d especially recommend sitting at the bar to be able to watch your food get cooked. In hindsight I may have gotten too much food, but with how good every dish tasted, I’d gladly have that problem again. Try as much as you can. The mussels paired with both focaccia and Sourdough as well as the Scallops were to die for. This was some of my favorite seafood I’ve had to date!
Enjoyed this meal. The scallops were excellent. Lobster was ok at £35 for the small. Don't be fooled by the pic...should've had my hand next to it. Probably would've done 2 other dishes for that price. Octopus was good but could've used a little acid with the sauce. Saw lots of crab linguine going around & would try that next time.
Booked this restaurant for our first night in Glasgow. What an outstanding find. Super friendly welcome and fabulously fresh and perfectly cooked fish dishes including langoustines, scallops, clams and brill. We shared plates which were generous in size and cooked to order. 5 out of 5 across the board.
