This is definitely a must see and do for anyone coming into Glasgow. The restaurant is built inside an old church, where it feels both intimate, cozy, and comfortable, but modern and contemporary Art the same time. It's moonlighting nature as a music and theatre venue is also absolutely rad. Then there's the awesome selection of food and drink available that is-simply put, the best I've eaten in Glasgow. The food is a good mix of traditional and modern cuisine and does it all justice in terms of presentation and flavour. Definitely a highlight of my journey there that I won't soon forget.
Every part of this place is a treasure - the walls covered in art, the local musicians (a string trio while we were there), the comforting pub food in the bar. Dining under stained glass cathedral windows while having a pint should now be on everyone’s Glasgow bucket list.
Last minute Easter Saturday adventure at Oran Mor: a play, a pie, and a pint! Tickets were sold out online, but we got lucky in the morning at the door and scored 4 great seats near the front with a great view! Outskirts was hilarious and heartfelt, a musical comedy exploring loneliness, intergenerational friendships, and empowerment. Brilliant acting, fantastic singing, and just the right energy. Loved It! I went for the vegan sausage roll ( very tasty) while my friends enjoyed their pies. Total for the lot £22.50. One critique and why I have marked overall a 4 is the "free pint" was a bit misleading. Only Tennents , Cider or Guinness (£1.50 extra) were included , not the Heverley I wanted (£6.50!). A free pint in my opinion should cover the tap options advertised. Aside from that, everything else was on point, great atmosphere the very busy bar upstairs with live music too. Fun, Different Saturday afternoon. I would definitely go again.
This is an amazing venue. Please take up the Play Pint & Pie experience show starts at 13:00 we returned in the evening and in another area within the pub section were treated to a superb musician playing a grand piano and singing absolutely brilliant.
The food was lovely really tasty . The service was terrible loads of staff standing about chatting to each other . Atmosphere was awful rugby blaring from every tv screen and people shouting . Tables were booked back to back so when we arrived at 15.55 they were still waiting for the previous people to leave our table. I didn’t realise they would be showing the rugby in the main bar / restaurant if I’d known that I really wouldn’t have booked it . The food was good so I would maybe go again and hope the service was a bit better . I’d did say to the supervisor who in fairness did apologise and take 10% off the bill as I was charged for an extra drink I didn’t have ( I asked for a drink that was never brought and had to ask again ) . Maybe just a bad experience and the venue maybe taking too many bookings as it was try west end weekend . Bit of a shame because the food was good !
