I had heard good things about Maison by Glaschu and arrived for a quick weekday lunch with high hopes. The service was friendly and accommodating, and the 'outside' terrace seating is nice. The food, however, was distinctly mediocre for this price point. I ordered the steak frites, cooked medium rare, with peppercorn sauce. The steak was average, with the meat tougher than it should be. The chips were well cooked. The peppercorn sauce was rich but on the bland side and needed a stronger pepper flavour.
Quite busy/loud when we arrived Saturday 3pm but the staff were super friendly and the food was pretty good. The steak frites was heavy on the frites and quite a small portion of steak but the soup was delicious. A little pricey at £75 for two courses each and just 2 soft drinks each but overall a decent meal and customer service was excellent. Lunch deal definitely more cost effective if you go with wine!
Had padron peppers for starter. It felt heavy and oily like done on far too much old oil. It had no salt. I then had the Bourguignon and the taste profile was completely wrong. It was super sharp / acidic. I am guessing they didnt reduce properly or used bad / spoiled wine. The portions are small and overpriced. This extends to soft drinks, for GBP 3.50 you get ice heavy 200/250ml tall glass of soda fountain juice. The atmo is essentially that of what it is, a shopping mall food court. And oh, the 10% comes included, but tbf they were all cordial and nice to me. So, for almost GBP 40 pounds I had a badly cooked and unpleasant lunch which left me hungry and displeased. This should NEVER be a 4.6 star place. Avoid!
Went here for lunch with friends. Gorgeous tart to start with. Then Niçoise salad. The salad was dry, had 5 green beans and about 2 salad potatoes chopped up with one soft boiled egg. Was £25 for that and a spritz which with some more veg on the salad was really good value. . Would rather have had half the lettuce and some more beans/potato/egg.Thankfully there was a side of fries or I would have been hungry! Service was good. Manager was pleasant. Really lovely setting outside. Not rushed at all and spent hours there.
