Mono really needs to reconsider its kitchen team because this place has gone seriously downhill. I used to absolutely love coming here and would bring friends from different countries to eat here, but sadly the quality just isn’t what it used to be. (In the picture is the vegan mayo, not garlic.. so they already had the mayo, why not add garlic and some herbs.. instead of some slimy garlic paste) They’ve taken so many of the things that made the menu great off, and what’s left feels very average. The only thing that still saves the place is the front-of-house staff — they’re friendly, attentive and welcoming. The food on my latest visit was genuinely disappointing. I was given a garlic mayo substitute that was slimy and horrible - and honestly, all that was needed was garlic mixed into vegan mayo!? How difficult is that? I still had to pay for it, too. The mushroom dish was absolutely caked in salt, the burger was incredibly basic, and the chips were burnt. None of it felt remotely up to the standard I remember. I worked in hospitality for seven years, including two years as a chef/sous chef, and I honestly struggle to understand how food this basic is being sent out. What’s being served is hardly gourmet, yet somehow the kitchen still can’t seem to get the basics right. At this point, I genuinely think the head chef needs to go back to cooking school. It’s such a shame because Mono used to be somewhere I’d happily recommend and bring people from abroad to experience. The staff are still fantastic, but the kitchen is letting the whole place down. I won’t be back until the quality improves.
We enjoyed the food at Mono. So good to know everything is vegan. Service was great. Very relaxing and value for money. Only down side was their pizza oven wasn't working and they had run out of ice cream but we still had a lovely meal.
We really enjoyed the vibe and food here. It was great to experience a bit of Scottish cuisine while in Scotland. Tried the haggis with neeps and tatties for the first time. Highly recommend!
I enjoyed the food here a lot. I visited twice during my stay in Glasgow and it was filling both times. There's also a record shop which is definitely worth checking out after having food. If you're looking for vegan food in Glasgow Mono should be high on your list!
My second time at Mono and I wish I could visit Glasgow more often to come back soon! Delicious vegan food, staff is really nice and I truly love the atmosphere. They accommodate us quickly as well, we booked a table in advance cause it was a busy Saturday! Definitely will recommend to my friends who visit the city
