We visited for the taster menu, one meat & one vegetarian. We booked based on the menu on the website and unfortunately, that was not the menu we got on the night. Nothing on the website suggests the menu is a sample menu. Such a shame as the dishes on that menu were what made us book in the first place! We stayed anyway as we were only visiting glasgow for the day and didn't have time to find somewhere else. The food was very nice but portions were incredibly small. We've not had a taster menu meal before so not sure if this is typical, but at £80 each and for 8 courses, I didn't expect to leave still hungry. Some of the things served were different to the printed menu we had as well ( I got soda bread but menu said sourdough, vegetarian courgette dish was supposed to have fermented grains but had a minted pea and bean topping instead. etc) For the price, we felt a little bit disappointed to be honest. Cutlery covered in water marks, no spoon given with consomé, the butter with the vegetarian first course was rock solid and impossible to spread. I appreciate these are all small things, but when you pay £200 for a 2 person meal, details really matter and add to the overall experience. The staff serving us were friendly and knowledgeable.
We have been wanting to try Ubiquitous Chip for so long and it did not dissappoint. Few things to note: They have the Brasserie upstairs and the Restaurant section downstairs. Restaurant is a bit more fine dining style with higher prices whereas upstairs is more like experimental small plates. On sundays Brasserie has a Sunday Roast menu. So if you are wanting to try the usual Brasserie menu or not feeling like roast, make sure to go another day! We had the sunday roast, 2-course for £35. I had an amazing tomato salad for starters and lamb roast for main. Everything was delicious and the portions were quite big. Service and the ambiance were all great. I would have liked a bigger cocktail menu from the bar but there were a few specials available. I would totally recommend a visit but make sure you book for the right space and the right menu!
Started out with bottle on the rooftop with champagne B4 dinner. We then sat down in great indoor/ outdoor dining with spectacular food and service. I must say whilst travelling we have certainly nailed some top restaurants through other reviews and recommendations on this Google site along with trip advisor. Had an absolute amazing experience.
Small plates restaurant, so perfect if you like to share. this does mean some of the portions are on the smaller side but honestly just gives you more room to try other things. there are many different flavour combinations which kept things interesting and fresh, definitely a place to check out!
Food was amazing, I really loved it, and the atmosphere was nice too. But the portions are seriously small—like really small. You’ll probably still be hungry after and end up going somewhere else (we literally felt like getting fish and chips after). On top of that, the prices are way too high for what you get. Great food, but portion size and pricing need fixing.
