To be transparent, we were encouraged to write a review, but I wouldn’t have left one (especially one this positive!) if it wasn’t genuinely how I felt. We found this place on TripAdvisor as visitors from Cardiff, where it had overwhelmingly positive reviews. Well, those reviews are definitely well deserved! It’s a gorgeous place with a lovely atmosphere and decor, and we were pleasantly surprised by the live music, which really added to the experience. There was a little wait given how busy it was (Saturday night and fully booked, so completely expected), but the service we received was exceptional. The staff really made sure we were looked after despite how busy they were, which we really appreciated. I was very torn over what to order but eventually went for the Haggis Lasagna - and I can confidently say it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had! So much flavour and beautifully presented. I also had a few cocktails, which were all genuinely cocktail-bar quality. Overall, we had such a lovely evening and would absolutely come back if we’re ever in the area again. Definitely worth a visit!
Veggies/vegans this is a must! Food is unreal! Great vibes there was also nice chill live music. Mhairi was super welcoming and bubbly throughout the whole experience and very helpful! 10/10 recommend!
Came across this lovely place while searching for somewhere to eat during our stay in Glasgow. I must say it was a great discovery and I’m not afraid of losing my Italian citizenship when I say that the haggis lasagna really has something to it that made me enjoy every single bite! we ordered two starters and two mains and were pleasantly impressed by the taste and the size of the portions - they were very satisfying, but didn’t stop us from getting a dessert as well. Just in case you needed a few more reasons to dine at the Duke’s Umbrella, the staff is kind and welcoming, and the atmosphere is as cozy as you would expect from a restaurant in the centre of Glasgow. Sadly, we’ll have to come back someday, hopefully soon.
We had a good time at the Duke's Umbrella. Although the restaurant should get some renovations on the outside (you can barely read the restaurant name), the interior looked very nice and interesting. The library type of decoration is a good fit. There weren't many draught beer on the menu, but the bottled Ceasar Augustus IPA was very good. The food itself was good, too. Service was friendly but always in a hurry. There was live music which started shortly after we got our food. Although the music was decent, the volume was just too loud - we could barely speak at our table. Just turn the volume down a notch, so people can continue to talk normally.
My fiancé and I went here for dinner our first night in Glasgow. It was absolutely wonderful! There was live music, the staff were kind and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious! We were even given complimentary sparkling due to just getting engaged! We got the smoked salmon, scotch egg, haggis lasagna, and the chicken schnitzel risotto ! I will forever be dreaming of that perfectly cooked scotch egg! I would highly recommend going to The Dukes Umbrella!
