Experience Loch Katrine aboard the Steamship Sir Walter Scott, in service since 1900. Departing from Trossachs Pier, the 2-hour cruise travels to Stronachlachar and back, showcasing the dramatic landscape of the Scottish Highlands.
The steamship, named after the Scottish author Sir Walter Scott, was built in 1899 on the River Clyde, dismantled, then transported and reassembled at Loch Katrine. It is operated by a charitable trust committed to preserving this historic vessel.
During the cruise, listen to live commentary covering Queen Victoria’s 1859 visit, the Royal Cottage, and the Loch Katrine waterworks supplying fresh water to Glasgow. The loch lies within Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, offering scenic views of mountains, woodlands, and glens. Spring and summer cruises provide opportunities to see ospreys and other birds of prey.
The route passes Brenachoile Point, known from the TV series Outlander, and includes stories of Rob Roy MacGregor, a local historical figure born here in 1671.
