Went for the 10 Course Trust experience! Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. Plenty of time between courses so savour the flavours. Staff extremely friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Will definitely be going back!

10/10. Had a great meal at 111 by Modou with friends for a special occasion and the staff helped celebrate and made it feel special. The food was excellent, so flavoursome and beautiful presentation. The staff were friendly and attentive, great service. One of my new favourites in Glasgow! Thank you.

At this 35-seater in the residential part of Glasgow’s West End, Senegalese-born Modou Diagne cooks up a 10-courses feast in a tiny open kitchen. The menu changes seasonally, always focused on Scottish produce and classic technique but roaming the world for flavour inspiration. The vibe is relaxed and a bit funky and the room has a good buzz without being too loud. Copper tabletops are set with quality paper napkins and moody lighting ensures the spotlight is on Modou in his open kitchen. Highlights of a recent meal included an incredibly tasty carrot dish (roasted, confit, purée, carrot top pesto and mustard chutney) a challenge to bring so many elements together but it worked seamlessly. Also a clever cheese course of camembert-style Tunworth baked on top of a dense date pudding and drizzled with honey, a Puglian primitivo dolce a good wine pairing with it. Honourable mention to a creamy, tangy, tasty white bean ragù with baked potato foam and herb oil topped with deep-fried onion, a solid tasty starter. And potato terrine with black garlic emulsion and aged parmesan for its delicious simplicity – it was salty, umami, crisp and starchy and paired well with an Abruzzese trebbiano that tasted a touch acidic at first but really came into its own with the food. A beautiful piece of perfectly-cooked sea bass was served with ratatouille, pickled mussels, lemon gel, butter emulsion, bacon crumble and paprika emulsion. It was a tasty, moreish dish but I’m not sure it needed the bacon crumble or mussel – or even the paprika emulsion. A clear highlight of the whole experience was the delightful service by a small passionate team that was clearly stretched and yet managed to make every table feel special. Wine pairings were interesting, well explained and generous too. Modou is still young and his cooking is evolving, so there are bound to be an occasional miss among the hits, but at £50 for 10 courses (£30 on Sunday) 111 by Modou represents some of the best value refined eats in the UK!

Absolutely brilliant experience today. 10 tasting courses with paired wine. Really good food and wine with a nice concept to try to identify the ingredients. Great value on a Sunday at £30 per person for food and the same for wine.
