The Iron Duke

Brilliant spot. Sat outside in the sun with a great view of Glasgows finest, couldn’t have asked for a better spot for it. Had the posh fish supper and honestly the best fish I’ve had, proper quality, well cooked, not your usual pub grub. Beer was spot on too, first time trying Menabrea and it went down an absolute treat. Will be back when I’m next in Glasgow 🔥
We found this place on Google and we couldn't be any happier! The location is quite central, cozy and authentic. Staff members are super friendly, always open to explain the menu or answering any question related to the food. We even got a small tasting for the beer. Huge shoutout to James - he's a sunshine of a person. Always ready for some jokes and making one laugh! ☺️ Robbie (the name on the bill) was also friendly and greeted us with a smile right away😊 And last but not least: the food - worth every penny! So delicious, tasty and good portion size! Defo would recommend visiting the Iron Duke! ❤️
Everything was faultless. From the moment we arrived the welcome and service was brilliant. This was our first visit and instantly you can see It’s a small place but it doesn’t feel cramped and you don’t feel like the next table can hear your conversation. We were served by the manager and one of the founders, both really nice guys, recommended dishes and explained the menu but also allowed us space to decide. The food - we started with the bread and olives - these were both incredible but we’d seen other photos of their massive portions so we were cautious about finishing these (olives were genuinely amazing) my wife had the beef wellington (which I tasted) and can only say this was perfect, It was melt in the mouth and each side & accompaniment balanced the dish perfectly. I had the scallops and the burger - scallops were cooked really well and the burger…..there wasn’t a single thing the chef could’ve done to make this a better burger. It’s that good (maybe the best I’ve had). I chose the chimmichuri which I’m familiar with but this was different, blended and really tangy - nice surprise from the norm. We’ll 100% be back and can’t wait to try their other items.
We were in yesterday 17th April on a voucher deal. I can't speak highly enough of the team, or of the food. Honestly great on all fronts. We had the Pomme Alba to start, sharing, then I had the posh fish supper, and my wife had the Haggis, neeps, and tatties. We finished the meal with sticky toffee pudding as a sharer.. The food was delicious. Fresh, and beautifully balanced in flavours and in portion size. All served promptly by people who obviously enjoy working there. And it's a bloody brilliant pint of Tennents Lager. I'd suggest one of the best in the city centre... We'll definitely be back.. Thanks for a lovely meal
Visited just after opening time, staff were so welcoming and friendly. Very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the food and drink on the menu and more than willing to give recommendations. The food and drink itself was sublime and exceptionally reasonably priced, a bargain for the quality of the food and fantastic portion sizes. Despite being right in the heart of the city, it feels like a little retreat from all the hustle and bustle. Highly recommended!
